What is the difference between § 6 and § 7?+
An electrician under § 6 of NV 194/2022 may work independently on electrical equipment within the scope of their certificate. A senior electrician under § 7 may in addition direct activities, direct operation and design reserved electrical equipment, provided the design work is not subject to authorisation under another legal regulation. For § 7 the applicant also documents professional practice according to the scope. On its own, § 7 does not entitle the holder to carry out inspections — those require a § 8 inspector's certificate from TIČR.
How long is the certificate valid and what happens then?+
Under § 19 (2) of Act No. 250/2021 Coll. the examination certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of issue. Before it expires, a repeat examination is taken — with us online for 1,400 CZK excl. VAT. We note the date of issue and contact you in good time.
How much does the exam cost?+
A new electrician under § 6 or a senior electrician under § 7 costs 2,500 CZK excl. VAT per person — the price covers the training, the exam before the board and the certificate. A repeat examination after three years costs 1,400 CZK excl. VAT per person and is held online. Instruction of a person under § 4 starts at 300 CZK excl. VAT per person in group training.
Can the exam be taken online?+
We hold repeat examinations online — a written test in an application and an oral interview with the board by video call. For a new electrician who does not hold a certificate yet, we work with the open date in Brno or with an exam at your premises; an individual online date can be arranged for 2 or more people when the need is urgent. Tell us your situation and we will say what makes sense in your case.
Do I need an electrical school?+
Not necessarily. Act No. 250/2021 Coll. recognises electrical education, other education that meets the requirements for electrical education in terms of content, or a full vocational qualification from the National Register of Qualifications in the field group Electrical engineering, telecommunications and computing. In addition, the applicant is at least 18 years old, has full legal capacity, is medically fit and has professional practice according to the assessed risks. Send us a copy of your document in advance and we will tell you whether it is enough for the exam.
I am a sole trader — can I examine myself?+
No. An examination under § 9 of NV 194/2022 is held before a three-member board and the certificate is issued by the chair of the board on behalf of the company at which the exam takes place. A sole trader therefore arranges the exam with a competent provider. The certificate then bears the name of SOHE s.r.o. and a scope matching what you actually do.
Is a retraining course called „vyhláška 50“ enough?+
A course and an examination are two different things. A course can lead to a vocational qualification that you then document, but the examination under § 9 of NV 194/2022 has to be taken separately before a three-member board. Decree No. 50/1978 Coll. has moreover been repealed — today the rules come from Act No. 250/2021 Coll. and Government Regulation No. 194/2022 Coll., even though the name „vyhláška 50“ is still widely used.
What should I bring to the exam?+
Proof of identity and the document on professional or vocational qualification in the original or in an officially certified copy — the regulation requires this to be presented before the exam. Then evidence of practice (an employer's confirmation or a statutory declaration) and proof of medical fitness. If you are renewing a certificate, add the existing one. We send the exact list for your case with the registration confirmation.
What if I do not pass?+
A re-sit may be held no earlier than 15 days after an unsuccessful exam and the law does not limit the number of attempts. We will tell you exactly where it went wrong and what to focus on before the re-sit. The price of a re-sit is agreed individually.
How does the exam run and who sits on the board?+
Under § 6 (3) and § 7 (4) of NV 194/2022 the exam is conducted by a three-member board whose chair must be a person professionally competent to carry out inspections under § 11 of Act No. 250/2021 Coll. Our board is chaired by certified electrical inspector Jiří Cach, holder of a TIČR certificate. First comes a written test of at least ten questions, then, after a successful test, an oral interview on the result, the mistakes, the technical subject matter within the given scope, procedures and risks. At least 80 % correct answers are needed in each part.
